Geographical coverage of hierarchical genetic subgroups detected in Oceania. A near-complete separation of the geographically isolated Papuans and Melanesians was obtained with K = 2 subgroups. Further genetically homogeneous subgroups were found in cluster 4-2, probably indicating the presence of extended family groups within the sampling (Table 1).
