  2. Type 2 diabetes was diagnosed: (1) fasting plasma glucose (FPG) ≥ 7.0 mmol/L; (2) 2 h postprandial glucose ≥ 11.1 mmol/L; or (3) use of anti-diabetic medications. Hypertension was defined as systolic/diastolic blood pressure ≥ 140 mmHg or ≥ 90 mmHg or use of antihypertensive medications. Hypercholesterolemia was defined as use of cholesterol-lowering medications or total serum cholesterol > 200 mg/dl.
