EDTA Plasma was collected from 101 LE patients and 99 infected patients without disease symptoms for measurement of protein levels of CEACAM-1 and MMP-2 using kits from R&D Systems (Wiesbaden, Germany). ELISA and quantitative analyses were performed according to the manufacturer’s protocol. The Mann-Whitney test (Statview software version 5.0) was performed to check for differences in plasma concentrations between the genotypes of the indicated SNPs, P < 0.05 considered significant.
